Apple iPhone 15 Pro May Come Without Physical SIM Card Slot
iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models could be Apple’s first iPhones to launch without a physical SIM card slot, according to a vague rumor shared by Brazilian website Blog do iPhone citing “internal sources”.
The recent report suggests that the iPhone 15 Pro models slated for release in year 2023 will be Apple’s first SIM-free iPhone replacing current generation iPhones that use physical nano-SIM card slot.
It will also have support for two e-SIM cards to guarantee dual SIM capability. The iPhone dual e-SIM feature will allow users to have two lines at the same time.
“Apple has long been experimenting with ways to no longer need the SIM card (known in Brazil as the “carrier chip”), implementing e-SIM technology. But according to internal sources of the iPhone Blog, from 2023 the Pro version of the iPhone may already start coming without any input to the physical SIM, working only with 2 e-SIM slots,” reads the translated report.
Currently, there is no concrete proof to support any of the claims made by the Brazilian website. As year 2023 is a long way off, it is better to take the information with a pinch of salt.
